Stick Electrode Welding Course (SMAW), From Basics to Certification

The structural stick electrode welding course (SMAW / manual arc welding) is the classic entry point into the welding profession. It is the most common method in metalwork, fabrication, construction, infrastructure, and maintenance. At The Center for Welding Studies we teach from zero, even if you have never held a welding torch, up to the level required to pass the international welder certification exam.

What Is Stick Electrode Welding?

Stick electrode welding (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, SMAW) uses a coated electrode that melts during welding, creating both shielding gas and slag. The method is versatile, robust, and suited to field work at various heights and in diverse site conditions.

Stick welding is the foundation for every professional welder, and enables further specialisations such as pipe welding, MIG, and TIG.

Who Is This Course For?

Suitable for complete beginners with no prior experience, those with a background in fabrication, sheet metal, and maintenance, and anyone looking to enter metalwork and construction jobs.

Also ideal for those who want a practical trade with steady demand in the Israeli and international job market.

Why Train With Us?

Small group classes, personal attention, and Ministry of Labour, approved instructors. Over 98% of our graduates pass certification exams successfully.

Real hands-on workshops in Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva, not just theory, but many hours of practice at the welding station.

Where Can You Go Next?

Stick welders are employed in construction, fabrication, infrastructure, bridges, steel structures, industrial maintenance, factories, and more.

After mastering stick welding, you can continue to pipe welding, MIG, or TIG, the most sought-after specialisation pathways.
